The Foundation for Community Initiatives launched a National Report on cases of Gender Based Violence (GBV) reported using a mobile application named “SAVAPP”.
Over the period from May 2020 to August 2021, 500 members of a Gender Justice Clubs (GJC) trained in 20 communities in Bomi, Grand Cape Mount and Montserrado Counties reported several cases ranging from rape, sexual assault, sodomy among others.
Present at the launch were members from Civil Society Organizations, the media, Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection and other stakeholders.
Speaking for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Minister Willimina Piso-Tarr, welcome the report and lauded the efforts made by FCI and Girls for Change in combating gender based violence and encouraged both groups to feed in these information to the GBV – Information Management System (IMS).
This initiative was made possible through funding from Women Peace & Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) with partnership from EU Spotlight Initiatives and implemented through UN Women Liberia under the project “Community Engagement in Sexual and Gender Based Violence prevention and Response”.
