Women in Global South Alliance for Tenure and Climate hosts Strategic meeting

FCI's Executive Director shares experiences around climate change resilence, conservation, and women's leadership roles in local economies.

The Executive Director of FCI, Madam Loretta Alethea Pope Kai is currently in Panama City attending the Women in Global South Alliance for Tenure and Climate strategic meeting organized by the Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI) and the Association of Women Artisans of Embera-Neka. The meeting is to strengthen the Women in Global South Alliance for tenure and climate and define the Alliance’s strategic plans to be leveraged throughout 2023 and beyond to gain greater visibility and positioning of women’s tenure, governance, and rights-based agendas and strategies before donors and the international community.

RRI’s Gender Justice Program developed over the past three years a cross-regional peer learning process that mobilized Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and local community grassroots women’s organizations and networks from Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The Women in Global South Alliance for tenure and climate was formed to enhance women’s strategic advocacy at the National and International levels focusing on influencing governments, donors, and the international community to increase and ensure direct climate finance support to Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and local community women’s rights defenders.

At the meeting, she will share her experiences around, Climate Change Resilience, Conservation, and women’s leadership roles in local economies.
