FCI supports CLDMC women representatives to the Women Land Rights Conference in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
From conversations in high-level conference halls to the real, lived experiences on the ground, change happens when women lead the way
Land is far more than just soil under our feet, it is security, dignity, and a sustainable future for our families. Across all the counties in Liberia, rural women have long been the backbone of our communities, yet their voices in land governance are too often left unheard. Seeing our women standing tall, sharing their truths, and stepping into leadership reminds us why this work matters so deeply.
This week, from October 13 to 15, we are at the Fair Ground in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, for the Rural Women Land Rights Conference. Under the powerful theme “From Dialogue to Action,”
As a partner organization to the ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Foundation for Community Initiatives (FCI) is proud to bring together key leaders driving local land governance, including 10 Community Land Development Management Committee (CLDMC) members, 5 from Sinoe and 5 from Grand Bassa, alongside FCI Director of Programs Spencetta Vaanii and Tenure Facility Project Officer Mariama T.J Kanneh.
Dialogue alone is no longer enough. The legal frameworks exist, but true justice only happens when rural women hold real decision-making power over the land they farm, protect, and call home. We are moving beyond talk—it is time for concrete action, enforcement, and equal representation at every level of land administration.
